Energy for a long day
Our children need energy, that is, calories, and ags not just to romp around. Your body needs fuel to live – and above all to grow. Therefore have 10-1 2year olds have a similar high calorie requirement as we adults, although they are smaller. On page 5 shows an overview, how your child's energy needs develop.
This need fluctuates depending on physical activity. Is it a small Zoppeiphilipp?, who also cycles a few kilometers to school every day and is a passionate footballer, then he needs up to every day 500 Calories more than his classmate, who is calm and balanced, takes the bus to school and reads or watches TV in his spare time. Most children of this age are guided by healthy instincts when it comes to eating behavior. Yet show the groups of under- and overweight school children, that not all of them have this natural appetite. Then it's good, if you recognize these problems in good time and correct them inconspicuously. More on this on page 20. Your child's weight should always be the basis for your considerations. Today no distinction is made between boys and girls - size alone determines a reasonable body weight. The range of recommended kilos also takes into account the different physique. If the weight of your child is outside the values given in the adjacent illustration, it is time, to do something. Discuss this with your pediatrician.
